Izhar Shefer, a broker (CRD# 1759498) in Aventura, Florida, has been accused by multiple customers of making unsuitable investment recommendations. Shefer was registered with Morgan Stanley from 2011 to 2017. He briefly worked at APW Capital, Inc. for four months at the end of 2018. He is not currently registered with any firm.
According to FINRA, one of those complaints is still pending, while six others have been settled. The complaints allege a variety of investment practice violations and forms of misconduct, including unsuitability, misrepresentation, and unauthorized trading.
Brokers and brokerage firms are required to only make investment recommendations that are considered suitable for a customer based on their financial situation, needs, risk tolerance, investment objectives, age, investment knowledge, and anything else the brokerage firm knows about the customer. If they do not meet that standard of care in making a recommendation, they may be held liable for damages resulting from the unsuitable recommendation.
