Tricks of the Trade: Outsmarting Investment Fraud Now Airing Nationwide
A new, hour-long public television documentary entitled Tricks of the Trade: Outsmarting Investment Fraud focuses on teaching investors how to avoid investment fraud.According to an article by The Augusta Chronicle, the program focuses on showing investors how criminals think and highlights the psychological tricks often used by con artists to manipulate and defraud investors. By featuring profiles of convicted criminals, fraud victims, academic experts, and securities regulators, the documentary provides a sweeping view of fraud in the United States.
According to one criminal profiled in the documentary, college-educated, financially literate investors are sometimes the easiest to con. With consumers reporting over $1.7 billion in losses due to fraud last year, the program is designed to help investors learn how to protect themselves.
The initial airing occurred Saturday, September 10. Additional airings will occur over the next few weeks.
